Frequently Asked Questions

We’ve been in business since 1995 and have extensive experience in home construction and home remodeling services with many satisfied clients.

Testimonials

Yes. There is no charge for our initial consultation and quote. Our 20 years of hands-on experience has taught us how to ask exactly the right questions in order to prepare a clear, detailed quote/estimate you can count on. Depending on your project and preferences, we can either create a...

a) Fixed Price Quote. For projects of any size, we offer a fixed, guaranteed price you can count on.

b) Cost-Plus Estimate. For larger projects, we also offer a cost-plus agreement, and provide you with a preliminary estimate for budgeting purposes. In this type of arrangement, you simply pay the actual costs incurred during the project plus a negotiated markup for managing it.

New Construction

We don’t believe in surprises. Our quotes are guaranteed in writing. You won’t pay a penny more than what is agreed upon beforehand, in writing.

In a word, absolutely. As long as you compare apples to apples... To be clear, we don’t promise the cheapest price. We’ll leave that to those who are willing to cut a few corners. But we do promise to do the job right... to stay on schedule... and to provide you with a level of service you won’t experience anywhere else.

5 Steps To Zen

Wouldn’t you agree that’s worth a few extra bucks?

Yes. Our contract price is guaranteed as long as the scope and specifications do not change. We’ll provide you with a clear, detailed proposal so you know exactly what it covers and what to expect. The only way the price will change is if you actually authorize and sign a “change order,” and you will know before signing how it affects the cost of the overall project.

We are happy to accommodate our clients’ wishes. So once we’ve come to an agreement, we’ll authorize any change-order made in writing. We’ll also let you know how it affects the original quote and schedule we gave you.

As mentioned earlier, you will not pay more than the original contract price unless we do additional work beyond what is stated in the agreement. If you wish to make changes, keep in mind this may affect the original price—AND the time of completion. A major change can drastically affect the original timeline, and we will be sure to keep you informed of how your change order affects the original budget and timeline before you sign it.

In rare cases, there may be an unforeseen problem such as an underground obstacle, decayed framing, etc. that may require additional work.

However because of our extensive experience, we usually anticipate any potential problems that could arise—things often overlooked by others.

To answer this question, we’ve written up an entire page on our Design/Build Service.

Design/Build

Absolutely. During our initial consultation, we will give you contact information for our three most recent clients. Other companies might give you a list of handpicked evergreen referrers. But choosing the most recent clients insures that you get a more accurate reference for how we’re doing business right now. (It also keeps us on our toes—after all, you may be our next reference!)

Yes. We don’t play “juggling” games. We accept only the amount of work we can keep up with, which allows us to stay on schedule and remain on the job until it is completed and you’re completely satisfied. If there is work to be done (and it can be done), someone will be there. (Please see our Company Philosophy for our thoughts on this.)

Company Philosophy

Let’s put it this way... we’ve been told by numerous clients that they will miss us when we’re gone! We’ve been asked several times how we managed to find such a great group of people. The truth is, we’re very careful in our hiring process. Competency is a given. Beyond that, all of our workers are carefully vetted to insure we hire only the kind of people you would feel comfortable inviting into your home.

In addition to a thorough background check, we hire only from a narrow pool of trusted and “vouched for” family and friends of those we currently work with. Our desire is to work only with those of genuine integrity and a positive attitude.

That depends on you and the scope of the project. If we’re doing extensive renovation work, it may be better for you to move out for a while or take an extended vacation. That will also help the project go faster. If that isn’t an option for you, we will do our best to section off the work area to make life easier for you while we renovate. And if we do wind up “sharing space”, we promise to always act courteously and professionally.

Absolutely. All of our work is guaranteed for a full two years—twice the industry standard. We try our best to work only with those who have a commitment to quality workmanship. So if you discover any defects caused by poor workmanship, we’ll come out right away and fix it. No extra charge.
